The Jewish Community of Oporto fosters the creation and development of Jewish life and religion, and our structure meets all the conditions for the practice of Judaism in the north of Portugal. The Jews of Oporto and its outskirts have access to the Kadoorie Mekor Haim Synagogue with minyan on all Shabbatoth and chagim, kiddush, mikvah, kosher grocery, kosher restaurants, museums, a Jewish cemetery. Every week visitors come from all over the world to pray here and enjoy the fruits of this structure.

Additionally, the Jewish Community of Oporto is the strongest Jewish organization in Europe from a cultural viewpoint. Information about the Holocaust and the Inquisition is conveyed by the Jewish Museum of Oporto, the Holocaust Museum of Oporto and by films on Jewish history.

Our museums received over 150 thousand students from Portuguese schools in the last three years, corresponding to 15% of the young population from all over the country. Everything is done by the community with no support from either the Government or other public and private entities in Europe or the world.
